What is in a name? Greenhead is an area of Stonington, Maine—a working harborfront village that boasts a very long heritage of fishing and lobstering.
Green's Landing (as Stonington was initially known)was settled after 1800 and in 1897 was incorporated as Stonington by the Maine State Legislature. Named for its granite quarries, Stonington is located at the most southern point of Deer Isle where lobstering is the mainstay of the economy.
